During their official visit to Sao Paulo,
Brazil on January 23, 2007 Mr.Nico Barito,
Senior Fellow of UNITAR and Mr.Musni Saiman,
Member of PT.Damba Intra, Indonesia the
funding partner of UNITAR conducted a
courtessy meeting to SEBRAE in Sao Paulo. SEBRAE
is a Brazilian Micro and Small Business
Support Service. |

Mr.Barito expressed his admiration for
the achievement of technical support of
SEBRAE to small medium business in Brazil
and have confidence that similiar approaches
can be introduced to support the sustainable
development of SMEs' in Indonesia and its
neighboring countries. |

During the meeting which was facilitated by
Mr.Hasan Dajarahardja, Vice President -
Chamber of Commerce Indonesia/Brazil, - Miss
Maria from SEBRAE discussed with Mr.Barito
the scheme of reciprocal programs that has
been implemented in Brazil and the
possibilities to share the expertise in
Indonesia and other developing countries in
collaboration with UNITAR. |

The President of SEBRAE has
principally agreed to strengthen the path of
this initial meeting, subsequently on
capacity buidling of small medium
enterpirses. Mr.Barito wishes that the
effort to support the capacity of SMEs and
the local governments within Indonesia will
be of essence to promotes the cooperation
between Brazil and Indonesia, especially to
forster
the access of SMEs to achieve competetive
values in the era of globalization. |

Both Mr.Paulo Tarcisco Okamotto, President
of SEBRAE and Mr.Nico Barito will meet again
in Brasillia by March 2007 to determine the
challenge to support the informal
entrepreneurs. |
